Tremendous. Wonderful shots of beautiful pieces of "functional art." You capture the differnt aesthetic magnificently. I scrolled through some old photos and found two striking examples of ironwork on doors in Cádiz, examples similar to the ones you have posted but with even more of an art deco feel. Keep looking, observing, and seeing with your appreciative eye.
There are a great many art deco examples here as well. I toyed with how many to include. I ultimately decided the swirly kind are most different from what folks in the US are accustomed to.
Thank you. This is beautiful! Forgive me if I forgot, but have you shared the swirly black and white pavers by the beach? I have not been to Lisbon but have seen the copycat walkway in Rio de Janeiro. Lovely!
I don't think there were any ironworks on the houses I grew up in, but I really can't remember. The ones in Portugal are gorgeous, esp. the green ones. I understand the holes in the doors, but not the holes in the buildings. Just decorative, or do those serve a purpose? Definitely do balconies.
Thank you for addressing ironwork. I love it! The swirls and whorls ! I love it when an artist takes metal and creates lace!
This post was decidedly the high point of my day!
Yes, please, balconies!
I agree! Some look like lace! Beautiful ironwork. Balconies would be great. 😁
Will do!
Refreshing and delightful to see.

Gorgeous! Always love the posts about the beauty all around you!

Do you mean cobblestones? https://lovefromportugal.substack.com/p/art-is-everywhere-series-a-cobblestones
Otherwise I'm not sure what you mean.

I have yet to determine what the holes are. I need to be in a building with them to figure it out!
Fantastic!!!!! We love the ironwork. Thanks for sharing!
I am Pprtuguese and in Portugal almost everyone, like me, have lived in a house with this kind of ironwork. Thanks for your article
You should have Susan Frager send you a photo of the ironwork on the staircase inside her home.
Love this! Thanks! Yes, balconies, please! 💖
Will do!
