#14 has chutzpah - not only plants, but a clothesline above the sidewalk, too! Although I can see the point of view that just because one lives directly on the street, one should not have to give up all the advantages that are enjoyed by apartment dwellers with balconies/courtyards.
Interesting. How is the 3 Amigos Mexican restaurant near you? Mexican food is one of the few things we miss about the U.S. Whenever we go to Lisboa we always go to a variety of restaurants as around here there are only Portuguese restaurants, some specializing in meats others in fish. We also have pizza.
A couple of years ago when we stayed in Caiscais a couple of nights we went to this place called El Señor and it was pretty good. One of the owners is a young Mexicana
Such a beautiful array of doors ! The green is very classic and elegant, in my humble opinion. I caught glimpses of iron work on windows. Is this equally noteworthy? Are exterior shutters a thing?
Exactly Aunt Peggy! Do I look at the gorgeous architecture, the beautiful tiles on the buildings, the amazing cobblestone sidewalk, or the doors? Such a conundrum!
Ahhhhhh! Love the doors here! My camera roll holds nearly 300 photos of Portuguese doors by now. Some of them are shared at the link below.
Thanks for sharing your doors, and the delightful story. And yeah, that door slamming would drive me crazy! In our flat, it's the buzzer people ring that drives me up the wall, which then sets the dogs off barking adding insult to injury. They don’t even ring it to see us, they just want in the building to see someone else I guess, and since we're on the first floor it's like they just automatically choose our buzzer? And we have no way of knowing if it's a random stranger not coming to see us or a package delivery we're expecting or whatever, so we buzz them in just in case and the majority of the time it's not us they are seeking. So they got the dogs riled up for nothing. And often that's what gets us out of bed in the morning, too. Fun times.
Yowza that sounds rough. It is better here than at our last place for people on the street hitting the buzzer. It's less of a tourist area and there aren't that many people in the building.
You could generate a wonderful poster/print of the doors of your block!
It is stunning, how many options there are in doors!

Oh, yes, clotheslines over sidewalks are not uncommon. This lady has part of it covered in plastic sheeting. For the pigeons.
Whoa! Hopefully in peaceful coexistence. Flying papaya not needed.
Love the door photos but the Fruitaria shot is my favorite.
The cool thing about that spot? There's like 4 frutarias there.

We went to three amigos with three people. One of us liked it, and two of us, hard no. We'd love a solid Mexican restaurant.
We have an amazing variety of cuisines available to us here. We're quite fortunate. We're just missing Mexican.

Love it! Wonderful imagination, variety, and good reason to go for a walk!
Vibrant photos. Love the recording.

We will get to iron work! There's lots of types of iron work and it's almost all gorgeous!
Love the doors! One of my favorite things when traveling. Along with lamp posts and arches. Thanks for sharing.
Duly noted!
Love the photos! Need more info on the box-like structure that appears to be attached to the green door at #40. What's going on there?
I am guessing mail or deliveries.
I absolutely love your door showcase. It’s always so beautiful seeing Lisbon through your eyes!!!
Awww! Thanks!
I love the green doors with the plants. I even have a couple of those plants. Green and red Shamrock!
Mom and I always had one on the kitchen table.
I love the idea of a dog who barks at people coming from one direction but not the other! Too bad they aren't stationed at a castle gate.
Luv European doors - tell a history
Wow!! What a variety!! Interesting at least!! Keeps you looking!!
Thanks.
