It's possible rye and pumpernickel are more likely to be found in Eastern European or Jewish communities.

A healthy dollop of sour cream never hurt a piece of rye!

In one of our grocery stores in Cyprus called Alpha Mega, there were attendants working in the bakery section and you told them which bread you wanted and they sliced it for you using a similar machine. In Aldi, I had to do it myself. Trying to figure out which bag to put it in was always the hardest part for me!

Portuguese rolls are a comfort food for me. Every Sunday my grandfather would go buy fresh baked rolls from the Portuguese bakery in Danbury and we'd butter them and eat them for breakfast. Buying Portuguese rolls was top on my to do list when we visited Lisbon. I'm a bit jealous of your bread!

Uhmm, I can't play the video. So anxious to see it! It's got to be my phone......OR the operator, it's usually the latter! 🤷🏼‍♀️ These breads..... interesting! I do like olives and was wondering if that would be good dipping it in an Italian oil. 🤔 Thanks!

Bread. A subject so dear to my heart. I am very much Mary Balkus' daughter. I've yet to meet anyone who loved bread more than my mother!

I give you great credit in trying the myriad choices of bread ! A daunting task, no doubt!

If, in the future, olive bread makes a it's way into your home, May I suggest letting it go stale and using it as a base for panzanella? The results are divine and all the other flavors somewhat mask the olives.

Happy munching! Love, AC
