Braga looks just beautiful - it's definitely going on our list of places to visit! With the gray skies it reminds me of when we lived in Edinburgh, where we didn't mind the weather (gray skies and fog suited the city!); however, the tween would have a very different opinion...
Yup... One of the conditions for the tween's agreeing to move to Europe, period, was sunny beaches, specifically. Sunny beaches + a school taught in English (otherwise we would've put her in public school!).
As I learned from a college person my first year, "You can put lipstick and high heels on a pig and call her Monique, but that doesn't make her a supermodel."
Thanks for this informative post about Braga. I have traveled in the north - but hugged the coast to Viana do Castelo. I have wanted to get to the soccer stadium where Braga's club plays. It seems to be cut right into a hillside with rocky outcroppings encasing the stands and the pitch. I hope you can get back to explore further. Carpe diem! (Aproveite o dia!)
Wow! It looks like Braga is currently second in the Primeira Liga, sandwiched between perennial powers Benfica and Porto. I think that constitutes "big doings" for the good folks who follow S.C. Braga! Get back there while they are riding high! Boa sorte. - TEW
We had a similar experience in Seville after my husband ate a fish dinner. He was violently ill all night, then it passed - a freight train. My research suggested some weird bacteria that is not detectable. Anyhow, sorry you didn't like Porto. We did, but also didn't explore extensively away from the river. Braga sounds wonderful. We'll have to check it out next time.
We didn't get to the river in Porto, actually. We figured we weren't likely to live there and with Amy not feeling great we didn't do much "sight-seeing."

Does the tween prefer sunny skies?

Amazing photos! I want to move there now too!
Seriously. If we managed it.....
If Scot writes the rest of my letters, I'm there!
Deal! Send me your files. It's SO much easier to write about a person you've never met. You don't even know when you're lying :-D

😆
It's not hard! Do it! You know you're sick of writing letters ...
After that comment, kind of hating you right now...:-)
And it's always a good idea to make major life decisions at the end of sucktober
:-D.
I am willing to resort to low blows if that's what it takes 😆
This place is beautiful! I KNOW I could live here!! But, like you, I would need those amenities too! A church, friends, doctors, etc.!! 🥰
We will definitely be doing our homework!

Was super surprised by how right Braga felt.
The stadium! We'll have to check that out next time we go.

Dry humor! Most enjoyable!
How can you not love a town with a dragon statue? And an amazing dragon it is!
Sea bass might now be on the do not repeat list?
The dragon statue is definitely a major draw. And yes, I suspect it'll be a while before Amy tries another seabass.
Saw the dragon and that if that didn't lock it down for us.

I think you'd fall hard for Braga. So many pedestrian only streets full of ooold buildings.
