Big week

In which we are judged by Portugal's immigration service (31)

Thursday we are going to our SEF appointments. They are at the same time, but in different towns. Espinho for Amy and Braga for Scott. This Is A Big Deal. This appointment is the one where Portugal immigration decides if we can stay past our D7 visa and get the coveted Temporary Residency.

Much paperwork has been prepared - almost all of it by the amazing Scott - and has been organized - by Amy - into easily accessible folders.

We are hoping to get immigration officers who speak English. And who are kind. We shall get what we get.

Since both Braga and Espinho are within reach of Porto (the second largest city in Portugal and a place where we initially looked for apartments before ending up in Lisbon), we are turning our trip into a week’s vacation to Porto, with a little trip to Braga (sadly, not coinciding with Scott’s SEF appointment. That would have been convenient for him!).

Unfortunately it looks like the Fall rains are beginning this week in earnest, so it may be a soggy vacation.
